Check out the program below:

Valerie Hexibition by James Welsby

Sunday 15 January, 11am–3pm | Main Stage

Experience the unique collaboration between James Welsby and Tristan Seebohm at the Valerie Hexibition. The duo has created 50+ costumes, with Tristan designing for YUMMY Productions and James performing as Valerie Hex. Explore their close cultural relationship and see the 20 costumes designed and made by Tristan and James, with James performing as Valerie Hex for 5 minutes, 4 times a day. This event is part of Midsumma’s Eventful Melbourne.

Midsumma Matters

4 February, 11am–12.30pm + 1.30pm–3pm | The Edge

Join us for two exciting panel discussions on Queer Performance and the Future of Queer Arts. The first panel will explore how LGBTQI+ practices in performance foster diversity, support our communities and ignite creativity. The second forum will delve into topics such as Queer Identity and its role in arts practice, the new National Arts Policy and the place of queer artists in the Melbourne Arts Precinct. Presented by Midsumma Festival in partnership with Fed Square.

Boi Band Battle Royale

Tuesday 7 February, 11am, 12pm + 1pm | Main Square

Don’t miss the Boi Band Battle Royale, where Melbourne’s insta-viral lockdown darlings, the Brunswick East Entertainment Festival (BEEF), bring their iconic drag king boy bands to the stage for a dance-off. Front St Bois and OuttaSYNC will compete for the title of Supreme Boy Band, with a playlist of 90s hits and 10 local drag kings, including BEEF associate artists and emerging queer artists. This all-ages dance party is sure to be a hoot.
