MESS is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to empower all people to build an enriched life through music. They offer access to their collection of rare and eclectic instruments in a supportive artist-led environment. MESS also runs public workshops, courses, community building events, live performances and artist residencies.

At the heart of MESS is their expansive collection of over 1,000 electronic musical instruments. Ranging from the historically significant to the cutting edge, it is one of the largest publicly available in the Southern hemisphere and one of only a handful of similar living collections worldwide.

MESS provides hands-on access to this museum grade resource to foster community around the transformative power of music making. Whether you are a seasoned artist or a curious beginner, MESS offers inspirational and artist-led support.

To get involved, you can attend a beginners workshop, buy a starter pass or become a MESS member and get access to the collection straight away.

MESS also offers a wide range of programs and educational opportunities, from entry level workshops to specialised sound design courses, school programs and member gatherings, and regularly programs live performances and hosts artist residencies.

MESS invites people to connect with each other, building shared experiences that enrich not only Australia’s electronic music community but society more broadly.

Be a part of MESS and join a community where curiosity, creativity and chance encounters in sound and music are celebrated.
