Fed Square is proud to host a Reverse Vending Machine as part of Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme (CDS Vic).
Bring your eligible drink containers to the Reverse Vending Machine, located at Russell St Extension, during the hours of operation and earn 10 cents per container.
It’s a great way to reduce waste, support recycling, and give back to the community.
What’s Accepted:
Most drink containers between 150mL and 3L made from:
- Aluminium
- Glass
- Plastic
- Steel
- Liquid paperboard
Look for the ‘10c’ mark on the label to check eligibility. If there is a 10 cent mark, then you should be able to return the drink container, provided it is in good condition (uncrushed, empty and with the label and barcode intact).
What’s Not Accepted:
The items below won’t be accepted for return but can still go into household recycling:
- Plain milk bottles or cartons
- Flavoured milk containers of 1L or more
- Glass wine bottles
- Glass spirit bottles
- Cordial bottles
- Juice containers 1L and over
- Household food containers (e.g., tuna cans).
- Containers such as 2L milk bottles aren’t accepted as they are products most commonly used in the home, so are more appropriate for household kerbside recycling

- Visit the Reverse Vending Machine located at Russell St Extension at Fed Square.
- Return your containers and earn instant refunds!
