Live music, entertainment, and films every day!
From 15 January 2021, Fed Square will turn into a lush oasis with grass zones dotted throughout, vibrant beanbags and comfortable striped deck chairs to relax in, under the shade of umbrellas as far as the eye can see.
While you relax in your own Fed Oasis you will be able to order food to be delivered from Fed Square restaurants, making this the ultimate in relaxed dining experience.
Fed Square acting CEO Suzana Bishop said: “We listened to public opinion around improved shading and having more comfortable places to sit (at a distance), so we created a space that answers those requests. We want people to find their own oasis, take a seat, relax, enjoy our free program of events and entertainment – and of course, admire the wonderful views of Melbourne.”
To compliment Fed Oasis and to create the ultimate Summer evening night out, Fed Square has a program of live music on the Main Stage from 15 January to 31 March. The live line-up will feature the Top 10 finalists from the hugely successful FED LIVE competition, showcasing emerging Victorian talent – plus much more.
Fed Square has also partnered with ACMI to create a unique outdoor cinema experience – on selected Friday evenings in January and February there will be a silent film screened on the digital façade with live score accompaniment.
There will also be a program of summer classic films including Muriel’s Wedding, The Great Gatsby and Red Dog on the big screen. People can dine in the Fed Oasis grass zones and watch a film – the ultimate gold grass experience.
During the long Summer days, the façade will screen major sporting events including the Australian Open, Formula 1 Grand Prix, AFLW, AFL and more.
In addition to Fed Square’s normal program of daily activities such as meditation, Tai Chi and Qigong, an updated calendar of FREE wellbeing classes will be launched in January including cocktail making and cooking masterclasses, yoga, dance, photography, life drawing, painting in watercolour, fitness and much more.
January will also see Fed Square launch its new brand. Fed Square has been the same dotted ‘F’ in a square since 2002 when it opened, but now it’s Anything But Square. We will be embracing our irregular and iconic architecture with a new brand that brings the best of Melbourne to life in a rich and diverse kaleidoscope of experiences.
Fed Square is the place to be this summer – with Fed Oasis providing shade and comfort, a free program of films, music and entertainment – all in the heart of the city from 15 January 2021. The full program of entertainment and events will be available from 11 January at www.fedsquare.com
