To celebrate World Earth Day, admire the beauty and wonder of our blue planet with this free outdoor film screening of real images of Earth – captured from space.

After the striking photos taken by the crew of NASA’s recent Artemis II mission reached us, it once again highlighted the awe-inspiring power of the Overview Effect – the profound experience of interconnectedness that arises when our planet is seen from space.

While it’s unlikely many of us will get the chance to experience this effect from space, you can come and experience the next-best-thing with this free, outdoor screening of an hour-long film showcasing images produced by NASA’s DSCOVR satellite.

Launched in 2015 and positioned 1.5 million kilometres from Earth at the Lagrange Point L1, DSCOVR is a space weather station that monitors solar winds and captures one image of the Earth every two hours.

French-based non-for-profit organisation OneHome, working with technology partner Blueturn, have created this hour-long film from these high-resolution images, captured from NASA’s DSCOVR satellite in 2018 over 12 days.

This World Earth Day, shift your perspective – and experience awe, wonder and our shared sense of responsibility to protect our blue planet.
