Valerie Hexibition by James Welsby

Celebrate the incredible collaboration between performer James Welsby and costume designer Tristan Seebohm.

Over the last seven years, the duo has created over 50 costumes, 20 of which were made specifically for James as drag artist Valerie Hex. Tristan, the main costume designer for YUMMY Productions, has designed standout costumes for all YUMMY performers that have toured the world. The two have a unique understanding of each other’s work and a rich history to draw from, with Tristan serving as James’s drag “auntie” – a close cultural queer relationship somewhere between a mother and sister.

At this Midsumma Eventful Melbourne event, you’ll have the chance to see all 20 costumes designed and made by Tristan and James, displayed on mannequins on the main stage. James will also be performing as Valerie Hex for five minutes on the hour, giving you the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in this unique cultural relationship.
