Trash with a Porpoise

Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 September, 10am and 1pm | The Edge

A fun, new sketch comedy show for children and families full of puppetry, clowning, song and of course – plenty of trash!

Created for kids 4+ and families, Trash with a Porpoise will navigate the depths of our waterways – battling whirlpools, cracking jokes with a walrus and learning how we can reduce our impact through everyday actions!

With a whole host of new, original trash puppet characters, including Crabs, Sea Slugs, Penguins, a Sea Horse & a Puffer Fish, children will be mesmerised by the diversity of sea creatures and the stories, song and jokes they share.

Trash with a Porpoise focuses on the plight of our oceans, looking at the impact that humans have created, how it affects the flora and fauna and of course, what actions we can take to make positive change. Through the art of puppetry and with a good whack of humour, Trash with a Porpoise helps educate kids on practical ways they can help protect our environment and waterways – and inspire them to get creative with their trash!

Trash with a Porpoise premiered at La Mama as part of the 2022 Melbourne International Comedy Festival – performing a sell-out season, before being remounted in early 2023 for performances at the Whittlesea Festival, World Environment Day at Prahran Square and most recently school excursion seasons at the Geelong Arts Centre and the Forge Theatre and Arts Hub in Bairnsdale.

“Absolute MUST SEE of the Melbourne Comedy Festival, don’t miss this gorgeous show.” (Annie Junor, In Review)
