Encouraging all women, regardless of background, ability, age or body type to get out and move your body – and try something new!

Fed Square is proud to be hosting a heap of virtual, livestreamed and live-in-the-square activity as part of VicHealth’s This Girl Can week, from 22 – 28 March. There’re lots of fun options to try, from FAST fitness classes, yoga, tai chi and Bollywood dance through to a cultural walk along the river for mums with bubs in prams. Check out the full program below.

Mat pilates with Som | Livestream

10:00am | Monday 22 March

Mat Pilates is great for improving posture and increasing strength. It is the perfect low impact class that focuses on your core, glutes, and upper body for an all-round body workout.

Spin with Bodhi & Ride | The Edge

12:00pm - 12:45pm | Monday 22 March

Hosted by Bodhi & Ride, this class is suitable for all levels of riders, and all fitness levels. 

When we RIDE, everything is possible. We push through doubts and insecurities. More importantly, this class will help you connect in with your body, soul and mind – and we know you’ll feel great. 

Dance & Roll with Rocca Salcedo | The Edge

3:00pm - 4:00pm | Monday 22 March

Rocca has been in a wheelchair since the age of 25, but she doesn’t see this as a limitation to getting active and feeling good. Designed for both independent wheelchair users and those with a carer, wheelchair dancing has a wide range of physical and mental benefits. It’s about having a ball, getting active with others and enjoying the moment. 

Yoga with Ivy Evenden | Atrium

10:00am | Tuesday 23 March

Join Ivy for a one hour Yoga Flow class.  The class will focus on subtle shifts in the body in order to achieve the full expression of each posture through proper alignment cues and demonstrations. Suitable for beginners through to advanced.

Bollywood Dancing with Jagriti | Livestream

Bollywood dancing is an invigorating cultural experience. It helps improve physical mobility, concentration, and co-ordination. 

Jagriti dances to forget her worries and be present. We think you’ll love it too! 

Tai Chi with Judy | Main Square

Tai Chi is a branch of ancient Chinese martial arts. It has been practised for general health and fitness since the 16th century. Tai Chi is a tranquil, gentle and pleasurable means of attaining and maintaining health and harmony in mind and body. Anyone, regardless of age or level of fitness, can practice and benefit from attending Tai Chi classes. 

International Women's Day
Indigenous Dance with Djirri Djirri Dancers | Livestream

10:30am - 11:00am | Thursday 25 March

30-minute dance class with a Wurundjeri person on country learning the cultural moves and exploring the six layers of country. Djirri Djirri Dancers are the only Wurundjeri female dance group, and also Traditional Custodians of Narrm (Melbourne). 

Bowling with Babies with Bowls Victoria | The Edge

1:00pm - 2:00pm | Thursday 25 March

This class introduces mums and expecting mums to bowls. The program uses lighter bowls and additional equipment to create challenges and excitement. If you’ve found yourself becoming less-active as a busy mum, this class is a great opportunity to take time to focus on your wellbeing in a fun, relaxing and comfortable environment – with your baby.  

 

Stroller Session – Cultural Walk with Djirri Djirri | Main Square

Bring your stroller and go on a walking group like no other as a Wurundjeri guide takes you along the Yarra in an informative and active class. 

 

No Lights No Lycra with Alice | Livestream

7:00pm | Friday 26 March

No Lights, No Lycra is a place for people to come and dance freely in a friendly, non-threatening environment. This is an online session so you can wear your own comfy clothes, be at home in your own space – and dance with abandon!

Ballet For All with The Adult Ballet Centre | Livestream

Ballet is fun and fabulous. Explore your dreams of training in classical ballet – it is never too late. 

This welcoming and inclusive class will introduce you to the fundamentals of Classical Ballet, consisting of gentle stretching, posture and ballet positions, introduction to barre, history of ballet and classical music.
