This hands-on introductory workshop is for anyone who wants to get started making and shaping sound with synthesisers. Designed for complete beginners and taught in a supportive group learning environment, Synth 101 introduces foundational concepts of synthesis through guided demonstrations and practical exercises on instruments from MESS’s collection.
Held in the MESS education space and led by practicing artists, Synth 101 teaches how to create and shape sound using core building blocks such as oscillators, filters, and envelopes. Working in pairs, attendees gain hands-on experience with plenty of opportunity to experiment, ask questions, and learn by doing.
No prior experience is needed, curiosity is the only prerequisite. Demystify synthesis, learn the fundamentals alongside peers and connect with MESS’s extended community of electronic music makers.
