South Asian Festival 2026

South Asian Festival 2026 brings the New Year celebrations of South Asia to Fed Square for a full day of colour, culture and community.

Widely celebrated across the region under many names — including Pohela Boishakh, Nababarsha, Vaisakhi, Sinhala New Year, Songkran Khmer New Year and more – this vibrant, secular festival marks a shared moment of renewal and coming together.

Across the day enjoy a program of live music, traditional dance, and DJ sets on the Main Stage.

An array of popular food will serve up South Asian favourites and regional flavours.

Community stalls showcasing traditional clothing, jewellery, handicrafts, toys and more offering something to explore at every turn.

The celebrations are capped off with a lively ceremonial parade and a fireworks finale.
