Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours

This walk is designed specifically for large groups and organisations. It is not suitable for primary or secondary schools.

Step beyond the city streets and discover Narrm (Melbourne) on Koorie Heritage Trust’s Scar Tree Walk, a unique and immersive cultural experience that reveals both traditional and contemporary aspects of the First Peoples of this land on which Narrm is built.

Led by knowledgeable First Peoples guides, the walk takes you through the significant Aboriginal art installations at Birrarung Wilam (River Camp), along the Birrarung (Yarra River), and across the William Barak Bridge (named after William Barak, a Ngurungaeta (elder) of the Wurundjeri-willam clan, the Traditional Owners of Narrm).

The journey continues to a traditional meeting place for the Kulin Nations, now the site of the MCG. Here you will learn about the ongoing presence of Aboriginal culture within one of Australia’s most recognised contemporary gathering places for local, national and International sporting and other events.

The tour culminates at the protected Scar Trees, an important cultural heritage site offering a glimpse into more than 60,000 years of living culture within a modern city landscape.

Listen, observe, engage and learn.
