Power Move: Meet Me at the Disco

A celebration of 1970s music and disco moves, filled with high energy fun!

The dance floor will come alive with a very special appearance by one of Victoria’s most exciting inclusive physical theatre companies, BoilOver Performance Ensemble, as they present ‘Power Move: Meet Me At The Disco.’

A celebration of 1970s and 1980s music and disco moves, filled with high energy fun, ‘Meet Me At The Disco’ promises to bring a strut to your step and get you moving with a public post-show disco.

Born out of our longing for our social discos this work steps inside a dream of a bored and lonely young man who after finding a dusty old record player under his grandparents’ bed, wakes to find himself in a 1970s nightspot. This is a celebration of all things dance, disco, self-expression and coming together – and what better way to do it than on the dance floor in the heart of the city!

“The audience will be transported to a world of glitter and gold, vinyl and nylon,” says Carmen Maddison, BoilOver’s Creative Director. ‘Meet Me at The Disco’ celebrates the power of self-expression, individuality and being able to come together and share the joys of music and dancing no matter who you are or how daggy you dance.”

The disco-lover’s paradise, complete with Power Move’s illuminated kinetic light up floor and vintage get up, and a live set of disco classics by Melbourne composer and sound artist Ciaran Frame. Audience members are encouraged to join the cast in digging out their flares, furs and shades for this event.
