Move your body, power the party. This dancefloor turns your groove into green energy.
Power Move at Fed Square is not your average boogie. It’s a sprawling, technicolour playground where every shimmy, stomp, and spin pumps clean, green energy straight into the party’s heart. This interactive kinetic dancefloor is an open invite and a challenge to the people of Melbourne. Can we dance hard enough to power the whole thing off-grid?
Inspired by underground Berlin clubs but bursting into broad daylight, Power Move is a riotous celebration of movement for all ages and abilities. From breakdancing duels to community dance sessions, this is a Festival mash-up where everyone is invited.
Daily at 5:30pm, Melbourne’s best emerging local DJs go head-to-head in Killer or Filler. They’ll battle for bragging rights as the set that generated the most energy (by getting the most people to shake their groove thang). Request Fest is your chance to shape the city’s soundtrack, because we’ll be handing the aux cord to you, the people of Melbourne, to DJ your own dancefloor dream.
Power Move is a celebration of collective power in all its forms. Not just the kilowatts, but the kind that sparks connection, creativity, and the pure joy of moving your body, whatever that looks like for you. If you’re more of a pedaller than a pop-and-locker, there’s bikes to power the sound system too.In a world that can feel disconnected and overwhelming, this is your chance to move together, create change, and dance like the future depends on it. It might.
Let’s move Melbourne.
Dust off your dancing shoes, the 2025 Melbourne Fringe Festival is here!
Join Fringe Festival as they kick things off the only way they know how: with artists, community, and a big, bold celebration of all things Fringe. Fringe will start with a Welcome to Country, hear a few words from the VIPs, and warm up for a wild wonderful ride ahead.
Come for the official stuff, stay for the vibes – this is where Fringe begins.
Inspired by the vintage glamour and bold spirit of 1960s go-go dancing, unleash your inner go-go star in this all day high-energy dance takeover led by the one-woman powerhouse of sequins, sass and soul, Anna Go-Go. It’s go-go time!
This is a dance-off like no other: think glitter, attitude, and full-throttle choreography set to iconic pop bangers.
Not a pro? Not a problem. Killer or Filler hands the decks to the people — everyday legends, bedroom beatmakers, playlist obsessives, and aux cord warriors ready to test their taste on the dancefloor.
Daily DJ session designed to get you moving, grooving, and generating good vibes (and actual electricity!)
The dance floor will come alive with a very special appearance by one of Victoria’s most exciting inclusive physical theatre companies BoilOver Performance Ensemble in this celebration of 1970s and 1980s music and disco moves.
Come for one song or stay all afternoon — the only rule is: dance like everybody is watching, and nobody cares.
Welcome to ‘The Square’ — A fun, live, participation event hosted by young people. Part performance, part social survey, ‘The Square’ invites you to physically respond to ongoing statements by stepping into the zones marked “Yes”, “No”, “Maybe”.
Part dance, part kinetic installation, this site-responsive work is a duet between a human body and a giant sheet of paper. (Literally). Shifting, folding and crumpling, flesh and paper press against each other until something new emerges.
Request Fest hands the aux cord to you (yes, you), giving the people of Melbourne full control of the soundtrack to the city’s most sustainable party. No silent discos here, just a party powered by movement and musical democracy.
Witness an epic 2vs2 freestyle video game inspired dance battle, where the power to crown the champions lies in the hands of the spectators! It’s time to level up your dance battle experience!
Dance, drag and pop music meet ancient legend in this joyful outdoor celebration of queer Asian identity. ‘Mulan’s Tea Party’ reimagines tradition through choreography, music & personal storytelling. Family-friendly, fabulous, and deeply moving.
Presented by Melbourne Fringe and Fed Square.
