For the first time ever, the Red Centre’s incredible Parrtjima – A Festival in Light, shares a taste of its extraordinary interactive installations outside of the Northern Territory.
Coming to Melbourne’s Fed Square for two nights only, Parrtjima, the only authentic Aboriginal light festival of its kind in the world, will present the much-loved Grounded installation on March 10 and 11.
Showcasing the world’s oldest continuous culture through the newest technology, Grounded is a giant seamless canvas that transforms a curated selection of Indigenous artworks into an animated display accompanied by a riveting soundscape.
Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the art, to step in and become a piece of the art, the stories, the symbols and the knowledge it represents.
Parrtjima will illuminate country and culture at Alice Springs Desert Park from 7-16 April 2023.
The free, 10-night celebration of Aboriginal culture offers a dazzling program of light installations (of which Grounded is one), music, talks, workshops, film, performance and more.
This year’s theme, inspired by the artwork surrounding the Statement from the Heart, is Listening with Heart. It embodies the concept of coming together to celebrate, contemplate, reflect and heal.
