The Palestinian and broader community in Victoria will come together to commemorate Palestine National Day. This is an all-day, 8-hour event, making it the largest annual Palestinian cultural celebration in Australia and one of the most significant Palestinian National Day events outside Palestine.
This event is a powerful expression of identity and culture, uniting thousands of people from diverse backgrounds in a celebration of Palestine’s rich heritage, music, art, and food.
The entertainment program highlights Palestinian creativity through traditional music and dancing, theatre, cooking showcases, spoken word, art, food and so much more.
The main stage will feature a diverse lineup of artists, including Tarab Ensemble, Tales of a Homeland (Sydney), Ataba Dabkeh (Sydney), Nahed El Rayes (Tasmania), Watar Ensemble, and Feras Shaheen (Tasmania).
The day will also include family-friendly activities such as kite-making and flying, interactive Tatreez/traditional embroidery and traditional dance workshops, making it an event the whole family can enjoy.
Enjoy authentic Palestinian dishes, with beloved vendors serving the best falafel, shawarma and knafeh in Melbourne, as claimed by the masses. Wazzup Falafel will serve its renowned stuffed falafel; Aheda Kitchen will offer homestyle dishes rooted in Palestinian tradition; Tasty 44 will bring its acclaimed shawarma; and Kunafeh House will delight crowds with its signature syrup-soaked dessert, a festival favourite.
A flag-raising ceremony will once again serve as a powerful symbol of pride and solidarity. The event will also include community and market stalls featuring the very best of Palestinian craftsmanship and products.
All in all this is an immersive experience that brings the sights, sounds, and tastes of Palestine to the heart of the city.
