Outdoor Cinema – Pellegrini's: A Melbourne Legacy

Paying tribute to an institution of Melbourne dining culture, and in celebration of the life of the late Sisto Malaspina, we’re screening the short documentary Pellegrini’s: A Melbourne Legacy on the Big Screen.

From its humble beginnings in 1954 to its revered status as one of Melbourne’s most beloved institutions, Pellegrini’s: A Melbourne Legacy chronicles the Espresso Bar’s journey as a cornerstone of the city’s post-war Italian identity.

Through archival footage, heartfelt interviews, and cinematic storytelling, the film explores Pellegrini’s profound cultural influence, its pioneering role in shaping Melbourne’s café and food scene, and the enduring legacy of Sisto Malaspina, whose warmth and generosity left an indelible mark on generations of Melburnians.

The screening is a love letter to Melbourne, a showcase of a local Melbourne institution and a celebration of Melbourne dining and café culture.
