With roving entertainment, giveaways, Street Feasts and free film screenings up on our Big Screen, enjoy a more relaxed New Year’s celebration at Fed Square this year.
While we’re all ready to throw off the last year and look ahead, at Fed Square, New Year’s Eve will be all about the chilled family vibes – time to catch up and enjoy quality time with those we love most.
Enjoy a specially curated New Year’s Eve dining experience at one of our bars and restaurants – consider checking out our Street Feasts-participating restaurants, as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival’s NYE program.
Then, wander through the Square, get a snap with Mr Stretch or the Ladybug Stilt Walkers, eyes agog at the light-up Mirror Ball Dancers, before finding a comfy deckchair to enjoy the free films on the Big Screen.
You can catch a duo of classic flicks from 7pm: cult-classic The Princess Bride followed by romantic comedy-classic, perfect for NYE – When Harry Met Sally.
Be sure to check the bottom of your seat, because you might find a lucky door (seat?) prize!
Bring your love, your fam or your most special friends, to say goodbye to 2021 and celebrate the start of a fresh new year, in style at Fed Square – for auld lang syne.
Please be aware there will be no fireworks visible from Fed Square tonight.
This New Year’s Eve we’re celebrating with Street Feasts – and Fed Square will be turning inside out, extending our dining footprint across the Square, so you can ring in the New Year with the best food and drink our city has to offer, right at its beating heart.
Riverland, Transport Hotel, Transit Rooftop Bar and Taxi Kitchen all are offering special all-inclusive dining (some with entertainment) packages for NYE. See a seven-piece band at Transit, live music and DJs at Transport, and more. Check out the options on our website and get booking! Chocolate Buddha is also open, as per usual – but bookings are of course required!
Bright and bouncy, the playful Ladybug Stilt Walkers spread their colourful magic among the crowds. Always curious, and sweet as neon eye candy, they create a giant dance weaving skillfully amongst the throngs.

A family friendly entertainer that you’ll never forget.
