A gorgeous and unusual pairing of musical forces, the Consort of Melbourne & Aaron Wyatt unfurl a shimmering tapestry of works for voice and viola that explore themes of loss, nostalgia, and joy. Australian composers Paul Stanhope, Carl Vine, and Deborah Cheetham share the bill with Ēriks Ešenvalds, Caroline Shaw, and Ola Gjeilo in this thoughtfully curated program that will give you moments of deep reflection and beauty.

Specialising in acapella performance, the Consort of Melbourne is led by Artistic Director Steven Hodgson and comprises some of Australia’s finest chamber singers. The ensemble are passionate and skilled advocates for contemporary vocal music, which has won them a devoted following.

Noongar man Aaron Wyatt is an accomplished violist who has performed regularly with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra and a range of smaller ensembles. He has more recently established himself as a conductor and was nominated for a Helpmann in recognition of his role as musical director for the premiere season of Cat Hope’s opera Speechless. In 2022 Wyatt became the first Indigenous Australian to conduct an Australian state orchestra, leading the Melbourne Symphony in a performance of Deborah Cheetham’s musical Acknowledgement of Country, Long Time Living Here.
