Melbourne International Student Week: Opening Weekend 2022
Come along to Fed Square for a cultural extravaganza during the Opening Weekend of Melbourne International Student Week.
Enjoy a range of entertainment, interactive dancing performances, live music, plenty of food, giveaways and much more.
Day One
Enjoy an Indigenous showcase, a range of live music, comedy performances, an international student photo exhibition, dance along to Salsa and K-Pop interactive performances.
There will be a number of organisations sharing information, free coffee and giveaways, including Study Melbourne. You can also get some photos with your friends at the photo booth and enjoy a range of delicious food from the food trucks.

11.30am: Welcome to Country and Indigenous Showcase by Djirri Djirri dance group
12pm: Official opening
12.45pm: World’s biggest (unofficial) Yum Cha – 1,000 serves of dumplings up for grabs (see below for full details)*
1.30pm: International Student photo competition award ceremony
2.10pm: Lion dance
2.30pm: DJ Set (Steve Tabone)
3pm: Comedy show
4.10pm: Salsa dance workshop by Melbourne Salsa
4.45pm: K-pop dance workshop by Hustle Dance Crew

Day Two
Enjoy an Indigenous showcase, a range of live music, comedy performances, dance along to an African interactive performance, and enjoy a range of delicious food.
There will be a number of organisations sharing information, free coffee and giveaways, including Study Melbourne. You can also get some photos with your friends at the photo booth and enjoy a range of delicious food from the food trucks.

Hoodie and dumpling giveaways
There will be plenty of giveaways throughout the day, including free dumplings and Melbourne International Student Week hoodies.
Hoodies
Up to 800 hoodies will be given away at random times throughout the Opening Weekend on 7 and 8 May. Head on down for your chance to grab a hoodie.
Come along to the Melbourne International Student Week tent at Fed Square and show your Student ID and like their Facebook or Instagram for your chance to score a free hoodie.
Dumplings
*1,000 serves of dumplings will be given away from 12.45pm on Saturday 7 May only.
Come along to the Melbourne International Student Week tent at Fed Square from 11.30am and show your Student ID and like their Facebook or Instagram for your chance to get a dumpling voucher.
There will be a limited number of dumplings and hoodies available, and these will be given out on a first in, first served basis.
