Big Games Night Out returns to take over the Square, in a free, accessible, and all-ages event that welcomes gamers and games culture enthusiasts from all walks of life. Highlights include Blaktasia Universe, celebrating the global premiere of Blaktasia: Invasion of the Murk, the 10th anniversary celebrations of the viral game Crossy Road with Melbourne studio Hipster Whale, and the return of the popular Cosplay Runway. Experience free digital and tabletop game activations, arcade games, roleplaying games, Esports tournaments, main stage immersive dance-offs, live music and more – and with great prizes up for grabs.
The King of Kart Tournament is back for the third year running, inviting Mario Kart gamers to put their skills to the test in a round-robin competition in The Edge. Great prizes (and ultimate bragging rights) will be up for grabs, so stay tuned for the upcoming registration announcement in September.
The inaugural Education Symposium invites secondary and tertiary students, media teachers and those interested in the games industry to join in two days of discussion about career opportunities in the sector. Highlights include a keynote by George Osborn (UKIE) on games for social good as well as a hack-a-thon and career mentoring for students.
