Melbourne Fashion Festival is an annual celebration of fashion, arts, ideas and creative endeavour for everyone to enjoy. Returning from 3-12 March, the 2022 Festival will present 10-days of world-class runways featuring Australia’s established and emerging designers, shopping events and experiences, styling and beauty workshops, industry seminars, networking events, exhibitions, tours, live entertainment and much more.

Managed and produced by Melbourne Fashion Festival Limited (MFF), a not-for-profit organisation, the festival showcases Australian designers locally and globally, inspiring consumers and driving retail outcomes for the growth of the Australian fashion industry.

Runway 3 presented by Urban List and Samsung Galaxy is a collection of ready-to-wear designs that accentuate and celebrate femininity today. Merging Australian designers whose work pays homage to the femme form through pieces that evoke inclusivity and joy, exquisite garments have emerged that reflect the brave hearts that quietly pulse within each of us.

Runway 3 will ignite a sense of belonging for anyone identifying as or in awe of all that is ‘woman.’

FIRST NATIONS RUNWAY

The First Nations Runway, presented on the land of the Wurundjeri and Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation, represents an all First Nations designer line-up demonstrating the astounding breadth of fashion design excellence recognised within First Nations communities.

A dynamic atmosphere, curated by First Nations Creative Director Rhys Ripper on behalf of Kinaway, will project ready-to-wear garments by MAARA Collective, NGALI, Amber Days, Liandra Swim, Ngarru Miimi, Kirrikin, Wa-Ring and Yanggurdi onto the global stage.

This event stands to break fresh ground through the inclusion of prolific contemporary designs imparting ancient stories and deep wisdom of Country to shape the future of Australian fashion.

The Festival Pavilion, located at the heart of the Fashion District at Fed Square, is a hub of diverse events presenting conversations and topics connected by fashion.

Encapsulating a program thoughtfully curated to unify festival goers of every ilk — styling tutorials, interactive activations, live podcast recordings, designer Q&A’s and a full program of DJ’s and children’s workshops — the Pavilion is the place to start and end each festival day.

We welcome patrons and public alike to a gathering place for the sharing of wisdom where a host of leading fashion media panels, stylists and brands impart knowledge and tips in an inclusive atmosphere which celebrates the multi-faceted spirit of fashion.

FASHION WEEKEND LIVE STAGE

Fashion Weekend is a multi-faceted live stage event featuring beauty masterclasses, styling sessions, panel discussions, workshops, DJ sets and much more.

As an integral part of the Festival program, this highly collaborative and interactive weekend-long series of events represents a broad spectrum of industries that all have an impact on the larger fashion landscape.

Located within the Festival Pavilion at Fed Square, Fashion Weekend welcomes a range of audiences across a program which explore a range of dynamic themes impacting the ever-evolving fashion landscape.

FASHION DISTRICT

Recognised as the ‘fashion heartbeat of the city,’ Fashion District is the main precinct for the PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival, at Fed Square.

Open to the general public, the Fashion District hosts a vibrantly diverse pop-up collection of activities which will coax, captivate and unite festival goers and passersby in a melting-pot of music and festivities.

Featuring ten days of public programs and partner activations, as well as the iconic Festival Pavilion, Fashion District is the social hub of PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival, open day and night to bring people together in a lively fashion neighbourhood.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY BREAKFAST

The International Women’s Day Breakfast will host an inspiring panel of women in fashion to discuss how we can all shape a better future and more inclusive world.

Join Country Road’s Managing Director, Elle Roseby, alongside a panel of industry experts, including General Manager of Cox Inall Ridgeway, Yatu Widders Hunt, Sustainability Strategist, Julie Boulton, Fashion News Director of Harper’s BAZAAR, Patty Huntington, and Podcaster, Author and Founder of Wardrobe Crisis, Clare Press.

In support of this year’s theme, Changing Climates: Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow, the event will recognise the contribution of women working toward a more sustainable future, while changing the climate of gender equality. This is a time to connect, network, reflect and be inspired.

BLAK JEWELLERY FINDING PAST · LINKING PRESENT

Contemporary jewellery exhibition by 11 Victorian First Nations Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and designers participating in the first year of the Koorie Heritage Trust’s inaugural Blak Design program.

Blak Design is a ground-breaking four-year program presented by the KHT to foster First Nations cultural innovation within the Victorian design sector and provide a platform for nurturing sustainable, First Nations design practices.

This is a free event, RSVP is not required.

SAMSUNG 'WALK THE NIGHT' EXPERIENCE

Step into the night and stimulate your senses with the Samsung ‘Walk the night’ experience.

To celebrate the launch of the new Galaxy S22 series, Samsung have created an immersive adventure where guests explore a series of interconnecting rooms in almost complete darkness.

But they won’t miss any of the action, dreamy settings, falling water, fashion, music, or live performances of this spectacular experience as they’ll be using a clever feature of the new Galaxy S22 phone to help them navigate from room to room.

Built from a series of shipping containers and towering over Fed Square, this activation is open to the general public and runs every evening over the course of the Festival, 3 – 12 March.

The Parisian inspired Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne Bar will be popping up in PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival’s Fashion District at Fed Square from 3 – 12 March.

Lovers of fashion, Champagne and all things Melbourne are invited to visit the elegant outdoor bar and enjoy a refreshing glass of Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne, served straight out of the iconic Emperor Champagne Truck.

Every Runway night of the Festival, visit the Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne Bar to enjoy an intimate meet and greet with Emperor Champagne’s CEO and the Champagne Dame, Kyla Kirkpatrick. Meet Kyla at either 6pm or 7:30pm and share your love of champagne.
