Lunar New Year is an important celebration for billions of people across the world, which celebrates the beginning of the Lunisolar calendar. In the Chinese zodiac, 2025 will be the Year of the Snake.
Head to Fed Square for a free day of activities and cultural performances for the whole family. The program features dance, martial arts and traditional and contemporary music from China, Vietnam, Korea and Malaysia.

- 12pm – Tai Chi: Find your centre with a graceful Tai Chi session to start your afternoon.
- 12.45pm – Gentle Chinese Dance: Experience the elegance of Chinese dance.
- 1.30pm – Vovinam & Songs of Vietnam: Witness the powerful art of Vietnamese martial arts, paired with soulful traditional songs.
- 2pm – Lion Dance: Feel the energy as the Chinese Youth Society of Melbourne brings the Lion Dance to life with drumming, acrobatics, and colour!
- 2.15pm – Malaysian Contemporary Performance: Dive into the modern beats and traditional influences of Malaysia’s rich culture.
- 3pm – Dragon Dance: Get swept up in the excitement of the iconic Dragon Dance, performed by the Chinese Youth Society of Melbourne.
- 3.15pm – Korean Traditional Sori Performance: Be mesmerised by the soulful melodies of Korea’s traditional Sori songs.
- 3.45pm – AO K-POP Dance: End the day with high-energy K-POP dance hits performed by local K-POP dance group, the AO Crew!
