Celebrate light, culture and the rich diversity of Melbourne’s migrant and refugee communities at the Luminous Lantern Parade 2026.
Now in its third year in Melbourne, this much-loved annual parade comes to Fed Square for the first time.
Beginning at Birrarung Marr, the procession will wind its way along Birrarung Marr Walk to the Square, lighting up the night with glowing, handcrafted lanterns and lively music.
The parade celebrates the creativity and contributions of newly arrived migrants and refugee communities, who have participated in lantern-making workshops facilitated by AMES Australia.
Gather along Birrarung Marr to watch the procession pass and cheer from the sidelines – all are welcome to be part of this vibrant celebration of Victoria’s multicultural communities and the stories, traditions and cultures that shape our city.
When the parade reaches Fed Square, the celebration continues with live music and performances, delicious food and a festive atmosphere.
