Getting There

Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Sally Capp
Message from the Lord Mayor of Melbourne

Australia’s biggest Little Food Festival has made a triumphant return to Federation Square!

While the name implies something small, this festival offers children the chance to explore how food impacts our bodies and the planet, and how we can celebrate its diversity.

Bring your family and friends and join Melbourne’s fabulous Farmers Market stallholders, well-known foodies and playful performers as they lead interactive cooking demonstrations, workshops and more.

The City of Melbourne is proud to support the Little Food Festival through our Event Partnership Program.

We hope you’ll join us in the heart of our beautiful city so you too can discover more about food and its future on our plates.

Message from the CEO of Gandel Foundation

Food is at the heart of every society. It feeds us and sustains us, but it also has the power to bring people together – with food often at the centre of our gatherings and cultures. And while food can bring much joy, the Covid-19 crisis has revealed that access to fresh and affordable food isn’t always straightforward, and that food security is a persistent challenge in Australia and globally.

It is for all of these reasons that the Gandel Foundation is delighted to be part of the Little Food Festival. We are proud to be helping some of our youngest members of the community explore the whole food system – from food security and healthy eating choices, to where it comes from, how we manage waste and other environmental considerations. We hope initiatives like this can inspire our leaders of tomorrow to help shape future food systems that are good for the health of our bodies, our communities and the planet.
