Experience the power of storytelling and celebrate Indigenous culture at the Koorie Youth Flick Festival. The winning films will be shown on the Big Screen at Fed Square during NAIDOC Week.
Join us for an unforgettable screening of the festival’s finest works, the program includes the winners and honourable mentions of the 2023 festival:
Winner – The Proud Story by Ngatatji Bysouth, Dontae Bysouth & Tylajae Charvat – Ngatatji, Dontae and Tylajae all bring their strengths together in storytelling, filmmaking, art and music to produce this beautiful retelling of the Creation story of Bunjil.
Winner – Two Sides by Kobe McCaig and Montana Moore – Kobe and Montana’s interpretation of this year’s theme is a heart-warming exploration of the diverse lifestyles of First Nations people and the different ways we connect to Country.
Honourable Mention – Walla Walla By Keira Long – a heartfelt tribute to Country, explored through a series of questions with Keira’s own family members and showcase of her contemporary Aboriginal art.
Honourable Mention – Beautiful Just The Way You Are by Klarissa KJ Hearn – a creative music video featuring the use of KJ’s own original music about her experience as a young Aboriginal person in the foster care system.
