Join the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) for a vibrant celebration of India’s Independence Day at an iconic Melbourne landmark.
10am – Flag Raising: Indian Independence Day
In IFFM’s fifteenth year, the festival marks 77 years since India’s independence from Britain. Annually bringing in large crowds to this community-favourite event, witness the ceremonial flag hoisting by celebrated global star Ram Charan (RRR), and a line-up of energetic performances.
12pm – Remitly IFFM Dance Competition
From Bollywood and contemporary to traditional and folk dance forms, the Remitly IFFM Dance competition celebrates the rich diversity of South Asian performing arts, and the talent of our local dancers. This fun-filled, community-focused afternoon promises to be an electrifying showcase of creativity, culture and music, with a vast range of dancing styles to leave you energised. IFFM is thrilled to welcome back celebrated dancer and actor Malaika Arora to judge the Remitly IFFM Dance Competition, alongside guest judges, Nora Fatehi and Laksh Lalwani.
3.40pm – Free IFFM Film Screenings: Zara Hatke Zara Bachke
Sit back and find a good angle at Fed Square to watch the Hindi romantic comedy Zara Hatke Zara Bachke (2023).
