The story of the Fed Square letters

Our Fed Square letters have had a beautiful new make-over, depicting the Creator spirit, Bunjil – thanks to artist Robert Michael Young, Gunnai, Waradjuri, Gunditjmara and Yorta Yorta man.

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

“The feather pattern represents Bunjil, a Wedged Tailed Eagle. This piece is a representation of the physical and spiritual journey we have all been on and how we had to ‘Rise Up’ above all obstacles and opposition. The markings on the wings are ones of Sacred ground and initiation and the markings on the chest are diamonds. They are markings of my father’s people, the Gunnai Tribe in Southeast Victoria. We use these markings on our shields and represent strength and courage.” – Robert Michael Young
