That nutty smell of sourdough as it rises. The extra time to tend to that new veggie patch. A slower pace. Juggling a new way of life, amongst online meetings and laundry baskets. Pregnancy at near term within suburban confines. Day 85 of isolation at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. A smile from the eyes behind a mask. That distant friendly exchange between neighbours. Spotting teddy bears and rainbows as you explore the nooks and crannies of your local streets.
Community Capsule is Melbourne’s first modern-day time capsule. As a pilot program, it celebrates our collective sense of community, connection and resilience that arose through the pandemic and transpired within our 5km radiuses and beyond.
Community Capsule is coming to Fed Square from 19 May, bringing together a:

Community Capsule Story Corner
26 May – ticketed
Come and pay homage to our collective spirit. Listen to original stories of community, connection and resilience at Community Capsule’s Story Corner.
Or have a go at telling your own. Community Capsule is welcoming storytelling registrations by Monday, 19 May. With your registration, simply share a synopsis of what your story is about and what you learnt, realised or how your experience shapes how you think and live.
You do not need to share your story to attend Community Capsule’s Story Corner. Get your ticket and register a story here.
Storytellers are encouraged to prepare to speak for around 5-7 minutes. Be ready to speak from the heart, not a script.

‘…When people are chasing all their own wants and their needs, they then forget to aid the needs of others, needs such as medical, home, food. Once people stop chasing money so much they’ll do what brings them happiness, creativity and passion’. – Adamah, contributor to Bri Hammond Photography Isolation Stories – Public Housing
