The Colours of Mexico Festival is coming to Fed Square with a vibrant celebration of culture and festive spirit.
This free, family-friendly event celebrates the rich heritage of Mexico right in the heart of Melbourne. With its lively program, the festival promises a day filled with fun, entertainment, and cultural discovery for everyone.
The festivities will feature a range of exciting shows, including a showcase of traditional dances from various regions of Mexico by Mexbourne Dance Company, singers Lex Avila and Lenin Ocegueda, guitarist Adrian Gonzalez, Zumba and Latin dance demos and classes by Cubaneo and Melbourne Salsa, culminating with a live performance by Mariachi Los Románticos. DJ Alcalde and DJ Daniel Dartnell will play tunes including Mexican and Latin rock, salsa, cumbia, bachata and traditional Mexican songs.
This festival offers an authentic experience of Mexican culture and artistry – be sure to catch the ceremony of “El Grito de Independencia”, a highlight of the event that commemorates Mexico’s most celebrated day. To wrap up the day, there will be a special screening of the family favourite film Coco, bringing the spirit and magic of Mexico to life on the big screen.
