After Kris Kringle (Richard Attenborough) is plucked from the crowd to fill in for an intoxicated Santa in Macy’s annual Thanksgiving Day parade, his popularity leads him to become the regular Santa at Macy’s flagship store in Manhattan. When Kringle surprises customers and employees alike by claiming that he really is Santa Claus, only the PR executive’s daughter Susan (6) believes him. Targeted by the store’s ruthless competitor, he must defend himself in a court case – leading to a fight to prove his authenticity.

When a frustrated businessman, George Bailey, becomes suicidal, an angel from heaven, Clarence, is sent to him. Clarence shows him what life would have been without his existence.
