Featuring a diverse range of choir communities and musical styles, including gospel, Pasifika and LGBTQIA+, sure to bring joy to your world this Christmas!

Do you hear what I hear? Could it be the sound of jingling bells, the first Noël and a pa-rum-pum-pum-pum? It’s time to rock around the clock and decks the halls with boughs of holly as you catch some of these incredible choirs performing all your Christmas faves this season.

ABOUT THE CHOIRS

Australian Children’s Choir
The Australian Children’s Choir is one of Australia’s longest running mixed voice children’s choir and training program based in Melbourne. The ACC provides high quality music education and performance opportunities for boys and girls ages 5-20 years and has a proud 46-year history of musical excellence, with many of its former members going on to pursue successful musical careers.

Pasifika
The Victorian State Schools’ Pasifika Choir is a multi-school collaborative engagement and performance program designed to develop positive connections and a sense of community across government schools for students of a Pacific Islander background. The program provides students with an opportunity to celebrate their culture through music on large scale platforms. The project was developed in collaboration with the Victorian State Schools Spectacular and has been included as a specialty act in each performance each year since, while also performing at vast range of community events involving different government schools around the state.

This year the Victorian State Schools’ Pasifika Choir includes students from Cranbourne West SC, Lyndhurst SC, Monterey SC, Hampton Park SC & Narre Warren South P-12C.

Polyphonic Voices

Polyphonic Voices is a Melbourne-based chamber choir under the artistic direction of Michael Fulcher. Since its inception in 2013, the choir has become renowned for its polished, innovative and engaging performances in non-traditional concert venues, often combined with multi-media elements.

Polyphonic Voices presents a wide variety of music – both accompanied and unaccompanied – from the classical choral tradition, but also arrangements of music from jazz, pop, folk and other alternative genres. Collaborations have included the Hilltop Hoods, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, and various local ensembles, freelance musicians and visual artists.

Halo Vocal Ensemble

Directed by powerhouse Liona Tatafu, Halo Vocal Ensemble features a diverse lineup of artists from different communities across Melbourne and. HALO’s transcendental performances see the city’s favourite voices gather in one space to perform, with the combined energy and talent permeating ever deeper with each ethereal harmony. The collaborative supergroup brings together some of Melbourne’s leading singers, musicians and DJ MzRizk, to perform reimagined arrangements of modern RnB, Soul, Jazz, Gospel, Disco and Hip Hop classics.

Rainbow Voices Community Choir

Rainbow Voices Community Choir is the Macedon Ranges’ first LGBTQIA+ and allies choir.

Formed during lockdown by renowned show choir director Mr Adam Przewlocki in 2021, Rainbow Voices has journeyed from those initial ZOOM rehearsals to fast becoming an ensemble that is making huge waves in the LGBTQIA+ community.

Recent performances have included the Elvis Exhibition at Bendigo Art Gallery as part of Bendigo Pride, at the Melbourne Town Hall for Victorian Seniors Festival, Birds of a Feather with Judy Small, ChillOut Festival in Daylesford, at Darebin Arts Centre with Melbourne Rainbow Band and Murtoa Sings: A Musical Extravaganza.

Northern Bay College

The Northern Bay Christmas Carollers are excited to travel from Geelong and be back in Melbourne to spread Christmas Cheer. With rehearsals after school our students have been working hard to give back to the community through the power of music and hoping too help make the Melbourne community a little happier and Christmas cheerier by singing for you some fun Christmas tunes.
