As the Traditional Owners of Narrm (Melbourne), the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people will acknowledge their Elders across NAIDOC Week by bringing together a public portrait installation on the banks of the Birrarung (Yarra River) at Fed Square.
These school holidays the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation invite you to join them as they honour the legacy and stories of their Ancestors past, beginning with Wurundjeri Ngurungaeta (Headman) William Barak, alongside his sister Annie Borate, from who all Wurundjeri people descend from. In sharing these portraits on Wurundjeri Country, they centre their Elders on their traditional lands, elevating their voices as they continue to preserve Wurundjeri Culture for future generations.
The Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation would like to thank Fed Square, the City of Melbourne, Museums Victoria, Photo Australia and Greta Costello Photography for their shared vision across this project as we celebrate “For Our Elders” during NAIDOC Week.
