The inaugural, free symposium is a bold new initiative to pave the way for the next generation of games creatives, entrepreneurs and technologists.
This two-day event featuring panels, discussions, hackathons and networking is designed for secondary and tertiary students, educators, careers advisors and games studios and industry to come together to explore the most topical issues and exciting opportunities impacting games, education and careers of the future.
Be part of the conversation to unpack career challenges, understand opportunities, explore innovative thinking and consider unique pathways to accelerate industry possibilities.
Hosted at The Edge (day one) and ACMI (day two), each day offers special optional sessions (opt-in at registration).
This is a free event, however, registration is essential.
PROGRAM:
Day One, Thursday 3 October, 8.30am–5pm | for secondary school students | The Edge
Day one focuses on Secondary School engagement with students, teachers, academics, careers advisors and games industry practitioners, and features:
- A special showcase of Victoria’s leading education institutes for students to explore course opportunities and discuss future education choices.
- Explore what it takes to break into a career in games. Learn insights from leading games studios including Victoria’s own Playside Studios, Massive Monster, O’Saurus Studios and global phenomenon Epic Studios.
- Be inspired by our educators. Discover alternative pathways to career realisation in addition to understanding how diversity is embraced within games.
- Discover how the use of games is far broader than we could ever imagine and how games are evolving for social good.
- Opt-in sessions include a speed mentor networking session over lunch.

Day Two, Friday 4 October, 8.30am–7pm | for tertiary students | ACMI
Day Two brings together Tertiary education sector and industry leaders, and features:
- A look into the global future. As an industry we have been adopters of AI, VR, VFX and AR. How will these evolve into the next few years to enhance creative ideas? Explore where we’re going, the opportunities that will exist for both the industry and those who are studying games.
- The Tertiary Hackathon. Exploring the topic: How Can Games Change the World? Hear the top 6 finalists from Victoria’s leading Tertiary Institutes present their vision for how games can embrace the spirit of ‘games for good’ and address global issues – whether social, environmental, ethical or economic.
- The Great Debate. Join leading industry experts alongside well-known identities to explore the provocative topic with an insightful, fun and informative edge!
- The final session will be a special link up to Denmark Games Conference featuring a global panel.
- Opti-in sessions include an industry networking event, which includes the Hackathon winner announcement and a special preview of Honk! Untitled Goose Exhibition at ACMI.
