As part of Birrarangga Film Festival 2025, catch a free outdoor screening of the 2024 Australian family film, Windcatcher on the Big Screen.

Bring the family or gather a group to enjoy Stan Original feel-good film, Windcatcher (2024), on the Big Screen – starring Jessica Mauboy, Lennox Monaghan, Pia Miranda, Ngali Shaw and Jessica McNamee.

About Windcatcher (2024)

Ten-year-old Percy Boy Collins and his eclectic crew of friends outsmart a gang of bullies to triumph at their school’s athletics carnival, emerging as heroes of their own epic adventure.

Written by Boyd Quakawoot (Stan Original Series Black Snow, Black Comedy) and directed by Tanith Glynn-Maloney (AACTA award-winning Finding Jedda, She Who Must Be Loved), Lennox Monaghan is joined by Max Turner (F.A.N.G (From A Nearby Galaxy)), Coco Greenstone (I Am Woman), Kelton Pell (Mystery Road: Origin), Pia Miranda (Looking for Alibrandi), Ngali Shaw (The Twelve), Jessica McNamee (Mortal Kombat) and Lisa Maza (Wentworth).

PG: mild supernatural themes and occasional coarse language, some scenes may scare young children.

Birrarangga Film Festival celebrates Global Indigenous Films that explore the curatorial themes of strength, resilience and the environment.

First Peoples relationships to the image as a form of expression, particularly in Australia, is connected to thousands of years of cultural practices. This festival honours that history and acknowledges the contemporary currency of the moving image and of film as an expression of the human experience in relation to our natural surroundings.

The Birrarangga Film Festival is on from 13–18 March, 2025, presented in partnership with ACMI and Fed Square.
