Behind every refugee journey is a story that deserves to be heard. This event creates a welcoming space to listen, learn and connect through honest and meaningful conversations. Explore what it means to rebuild life in a new country, reflect on shared experiences of belonging, and recognise the role we all play in fostering a more inclusive and compassionate Australia.

Marking the significant milestone of Australia resettling one million refugees, this gathering celebrates the richness of those stories and the communities they help shape.

This panel features inspiring speakers who bring both lived experience and leadership to the conversation. Nahid Kazemi supports newly arrived refugees, drawing on her own journey to help others feel safe and welcomed. Jamila Alarkan has rebuilt her life after fleeing conflict and now leads in Australia’s energy sector while championing inclusion. Johny Adhikari continues his work as a human rights advocate, supporting vulnerable communities after seeking safety in Australia.
