With a long and distinguished career in academia, public service bureaucracy, social justice and community development, Professor Calma has a special interest in the empowerment, capacity and development of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

The annual Oration promotes and celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices, perspectives and issues. It demonstrates Deakin’s commitment to reconciliation and Indigenous Knowledges.
