2024 Deakin University Brookes Oration

The annual Brookes Oration was established in 2006 to encourage thoughtful debate about the contribution of corporate Australia in the global community. It honours the significant contribution of Sir Wilfred Brookes, grandson of Alfred Deakin, the second Prime Minister of Australia after whom Deakin University is named.

This year’s Oration, Lessons from a Purpose-Led Business will be delivered by Simon Griffiths, Entrepreneur, Co-Founder and CEO of Who Gives A Crap.

Driven by a passion to use business to give back, Simon had the idea to start a toilet paper company that builds toilets and improves sanitation in the developing world. Since launching, Who Gives A Crap has tripled in size year-on-year and has donated more than $15 million.
