Deakin University invites you to this year’s David Parkin Oration First among equals by cycling legend, Mr Cadel Evans AM in conversation with Sports Broadcaster and Journalist, Mr Gerard Whateley.
The annual Oration, which honours the significant contribution of Dr David Parkin OAM to Australian society in leadership, sport and education and promotes the advancement of public knowledge by exploring the challenges and opportunities for sport to act as a driver of social change.
A four-time Olympian, Cadel Evans is the first and only Australian to win the Tour de France and the UCI Road World Championships and top the UCI ProTour ranking. Mr Evans has played a key role in driving the growth in popularity of cycling and works actively to promote awareness of the importance of living a healthy lifestyle as well as improving rider safety on our roads. He is an Ambassador for the Amy Gillett Foundation committed to reducing the incidence of serious injury and death of cyclists.
