Meet Nicole Smith-Walker, Digital Media Coordinator and Retail Assistant at KHT

In the lead-up to International Women's Day, we spoke with three of the many talented women who work here at Fed Square to learn a bit more about who they are, what they do, the women they look up to and what the day means to them.

A woman with long dark-blonde hair smiles at the camera. She wears a long black cardigan, with her hands folded in front of her. She stands in a shop, near some colourful pieces, with large paper lanterns above her emitting a soft light. The wall behind her is green, with writing on it.

Hi Nicole! Tell us a bit about your role at KHT and what drew you to it.

I am the Digital Media Coordinator and a Retail Assistant at KHT. I love that I can take photos and share content on our social media pages of the variety of aspects of KHT – from our Walking Tours, to our Exhibitions, as well as all the amazing products we have in shopKHT.

What have some of your career highlights been so far?

I have been fortunate to meet some incredible First Peoples sportsman, musicians, artists and community members while in my role and see the behind-the-scenes of filming some ads at KHT, as well as the behind-the-scenes of our exhibitions and events and how they are organised and set up.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

The day is important because women all over the world should be respected and treated equally.

Which women do you look up to and why?

I look up to my Grandmother, who has been caring for my Grandfather for many years as he is a Vietnam Veteran. And I look up to all the women in my family – all of them are incredibly strong and have overcome so much. I would not have been able to overcome my own struggles and be the person I am today without their love, support and seeing their strength.

If you had a motto what would it be?

Persist! No matter how hard something might seem, keep going anyway!
