Better access coming to Fed Square

World-class events at Fed Square will be easier to access following the announcement of an exciting new project from Melbourne Metro Tunnel.

Melbourne Metro Station’s brand new station entrance will be housed at the corner of Fed Square, along the Flinders and Swanston Street intersection.

The station, named ‘Town Hall’, will stretch underground along Swanston Street, providing cafes, retail shops and wide platforms framed by sweeping arches.

Town Hall is one of five stations currently under planning from Melbourne Metro Tunnel.

Construction will begin later this year and once work is completed it will provide visitors with better access to Melbourne’s favourite meeting place.

Events will continue during construction when work gets underway to revamp Fed Square.

It forms part of the reimagining of the square, with the launch of the state-of-the-art digital screen later this year providing more inspiring innovative and creative events for Melburnian’s and visitors to the city.

During construction of the Melbourne Metro Rail Project, and as part of the City of Melbourne’s new approach of providing visitor services in more locations throughout the city, the Melbourne Visitors Centre at Fed Square will be relocated to Melbourne Town Hall.
